For some very cool prints, cards, mirrors, etc… stop by MC’s shop – Beeczarcardsandgifts. She’s quite the artist.

A bad week for birds at White Mud Lake

Saying Goodbye

Originally uploaded by lawatha

This little goldfinch ran into the livingroom window, and had the wind knocked out of his sails. Dr. Bill worked his magic, breathing on the little guy which always seems to help them return to their senses. It may not be what a veterinarian would advise, but it seems to work for the little birds. Bill put the bird up on the deck railing, where he sat for probably 10 minutes while I snapped photos of him. That’s just what a little guy needs, some lady in his face with a big ole camera… but he just sat there watching me. Finally he scooted to the edge of the railing, let me take a few more shots, and then he took off. He seemed to be flying without any trouble, so hopefully he’ll be alright.

Oh, he’s MAD!

Oh, he’s MAD!

I love the look on this guys face. This was the second morning in their new “home”. He kept acting like he was going to bite me when I changed his water. Then that afternoon he decided I wasn’t so bad afterall, and they even gladly let us hold them in our hands, where they made themselves quite at home.

Bailey found a few ducks in our flowerbed behind the shop. You can see more about this little guy and his siblings on my Flickr site. Suffice to say, two survived, long enough for me to get attached to them. Unfortunately it only lasted a couple of days- I awoke after the second night only to find they had both died. I was so sad… but at least we tried.

Collaboration with my friend “SmokeyLady54″

Hummingbirds

My friend and fellow team member from the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (www.cgge.org) and GlassAnarchy (www.glassanarchy.com), Nancy is a lampwork artist who makes beautiful beads. She specializes in collaborative efforts, making lampwork beads to match fused glass pendants made by others. I have been lucky enough to have Nancy work her magic with several of my pendants. This hummingbird piece is the latest. I love the little frit beads (those multi-colored ones). They remind me of sherbet. Nice work, Nancy!

Please check out Nancy’s Etsy shop, and also her DaWanda shop. In addition, if you ever see a pendant in my shop that you love, but want to dress up with some handmade beads and beading from smokeylady, just let me know. I’m sure we can work something out with Nancy.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things…

Black Eyed Susan

Originally uploaded by lawatha

This pendant is made with three of my favorite things- gardening, photography and glass. I grew the black eyed susans in my butterfly garden, then I took a picture of one of them, and had the photograph made into a fusible decal, which I then fused on glass. The result is a colorful little pendant.

This piece is currently listed for sale on Dawanda.
