Pay It Forward

Posted by LaWatha on May 12 2009 | Home Sweet Home, Photography

I took this shot while on a tall sailing ship sunset cruise in Key West, FL May 2008.

I was reading through Wendy Hearn: Metalwork, Fusing, Lampwork Beads blog, and she was participating in this idea.  It’s sort of like the One world One heart giveaway that I participated in earlier this year.  It sounds like fun, and I couldn’t resist, so I’m now participating as well.

Here’s the nitty gritty.

Creative people are adventurous!  So, if you’re creative and would like to participate, please send me a comment and the first five people will receive something (handmade by me!) from me in the mail.  In return, all you have to do is “pay it forward”- please see the rules, restrictions and limitations below.

Here are the rules, and happy posting!

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. But I hope you will. This will be something made from the heart.

2. What I create will be just for you with love and good wishes. It will be made of actual materials, not of cyberspace.

3. It will be done this year (2009).

4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be!

5. In return, all you need to do is cut and paste this text on your Blog (from “Creative People are…” and create five things for the first 5 people to respond to your post.
6. Send your mailing address after I contact you.

IMPORTANT: This offer is null and void if you do not post on your own blog to pay this forward. Would love it if you could join in!!!

To help me in choosing what to make and send you, I will be reading through your blog to get an idea of your likes and dislikes so that I hope you get something that you will love!

So what are you waiting for?  Get that comment in before someone beats you to it!  It’s not everyday you get a free handmade gift in the mail. : )

A bad week for birds at White Mud Lake

Saying Goodbye

Originally uploaded by lawatha

This little goldfinch ran into the livingroom window, and had the wind knocked out of his sails. Dr. Bill worked his magic, breathing on the little guy which always seems to help them return to their senses. It may not be what a veterinarian would advise, but it seems to work for the little birds. Bill put the bird up on the deck railing, where he sat for probably 10 minutes while I snapped photos of him. That’s just what a little guy needs, some lady in his face with a big ole camera… but he just sat there watching me. Finally he scooted to the edge of the railing, let me take a few more shots, and then he took off. He seemed to be flying without any trouble, so hopefully he’ll be alright.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things…

Black Eyed Susan

Originally uploaded by lawatha

This pendant is made with three of my favorite things- gardening, photography and glass. I grew the black eyed susans in my butterfly garden, then I took a picture of one of them, and had the photograph made into a fusible decal, which I then fused on glass. The result is a colorful little pendant.

This piece is currently listed for sale on Dawanda.

Yeah… Vegas, Baby!

Posted by LaWatha on Apr 01 2008 | DaWanda, Etsy, Fused Glass, Photography, Stained Glass

Vegas is well known for drinking and gambling.  But that isn’t all it’s good for. Once a year, the South Point Casino in Las Vegas is host to “Las Vegas Glass and Bead Expo.  I attended last year, and had a ton of fun. I waited too long to sign up for classes last year, so didn’t get the classes I really wanted, but I did take a “taking it to the next level- hobby to business” class, and also a soldering class where we made soldered sculptures. That class was pretty fascinating.  I also shopped to my hearts content in the hundreds of booths full of every type of glass related item.  I had so much fun, and learned so much, that I’m going again this year.  This year I was smart and signed up early, getting the classes I couldn’t get into last year.  I’ll be taking classes in wire-wrapping, etching glass, and precious metal clay.  If you’re not familiar with these terms, then be sure to check back here in a week or so, and I’ll be able to explain in detail.   I expect to be full of ideas and inspiration when I get back from Vegas- stay tuned!  But right now I have to go pack my bags- I leave tomorrow morning!  VenetianVegas
