One World-One Heart Giveaway

Posted by LaWatha on Jan 20 2009 | Etsy, Fused Glass

Photo

I have joined hundreds of others in the annual “One World-One Heart” Giveaway.   The idea behind it is to bring all of our hearts together in Blogland and in our world in general.  We have joined together to offer part of ourselves, our talent, and our hearts on our blogs anytime from January 19 through February 12 in the form of a giveaway. I will be giving away one of my handmade fused glass pendants.  Here’s how it works.  If you’d like a chance to win this “Calla Lily on Glass” pendant, simply leave a comment on this post.  Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you to get shipping information in case you’re the winner.

The post will be open to comments until February 12.  On February 12, I will be drawing a name out of a hat- the name I draw wins the pendant.  “Calla Lily on Glass” began as a stained glass window panel I made.  I took a picture of the stained glass window, had the picture made into a fusible decal, and then I fused it on to a piece of white glass with a black border.  I love this piece because it incorporates my love of stained glass, photography and fused glass all in one.  However, if your name is drawn and you see another pendant in my Etsy shop that you would rather have, just let me know and I will substitute your favorite pendant from my shop at lawatha.etsy.com, absolutely free.

One World-One Heart is a yearly blog giveaway with participants from around the world and is the brainchild of Lisa Swifka of A Whimsical Bohemian. It’s a wonderful way for bloggers around the world to meet other bloggers and celebrate making new friends. Please be sure to visit OWOH blog to see who all is participating. Have fun visiting from blog to blog. Be sure to enter to win in each one, there’s no telling what you may win!

In addition to making lovely things with fused glass, Judy is very skilled and talented when it comes to stained glass and mosaics as well. Treat yourself and stop by her Etsy shop- desertroseartglass.etsy.com.

A Merry Christmas to one and all…

A Merry (Piggy) Christmas to one and all…

Originally uploaded by lawatha

Yes, it’s kind of early to be thinking about Christmas. In fact, we aren’t allowed to play Christmas music here at home until after Thanksgiving. (Bill’s rule) : ) However- when you’re selling to overseas customers, you have to think ahead to allow plenty of time for shipping. So I’ve listed several Christmas themed items… this little pig pendant/ornament is one of my favorites.

I’ve also been working on “Keepsake” custom color photo pendants. I finally have a wonderful reliable, consistent supplier for my color decals, and the results are wonderful. (As seen on these pendants!) If you’re thinking you might want a pendant or two made in time for Christmas, please please please order early. It’s about a 2 to 3 week turn-around time right now.

Made from a photograph I took of a bee buzzing in my flowers, this pendant has been blogged on “Beelieve“, . What a delight to peruse that blog. Not only does she feature beautiful bee art, but she has blogged about lots of other great things, too… birds, flowers, dogs, kids, apple picking… on and on… it makes for a great read.

Thanks for featuring my buzzing bee, Karen!

The Epitome of Cool

One of my favorite glass artists is Squidglass.  In addition to creating some of the prettiest millefiori garden pendants I’ve ever seen, she also makes some of the funkiest robots, rockets, creatures, bugs, retro and mod pendants imaginable, and she absolutely oozes coolness.  I keep hoping if I hang around her long enough, some of that coolness will rub off on me, but so far no such luck. That doesn’t keep me from trying though!

You may want a piece of wearable art from Squidglass in the hopes that some of her coolness will rub off on you, too. Check out her shops at www.squidglass.etsy.com, and also Big Red Wagon on DaWanda.  While there, be sure to take a look at her new line of fused glass leggy little birds. So Cute!

Hummingbirds

My friend and fellow team member from the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (www.cgge.org) and GlassAnarchy (www.glassanarchy.com), Nancy is a lampwork artist who makes beautiful beads. She specializes in collaborative efforts, making lampwork beads to match fused glass pendants made by others. I have been lucky enough to have Nancy work her magic with several of my pendants. This hummingbird piece is the latest. I love the little frit beads (those multi-colored ones). They remind me of sherbet. Nice work, Nancy!

Please check out Nancy’s Etsy shop, and also her DaWanda shop. In addition, if you ever see a pendant in my shop that you love, but want to dress up with some handmade beads and beading from smokeylady, just let me know. I’m sure we can work something out with Nancy.
